I'm MaryAnn Grantham, and I knew when I was in the 4th grade that I was going to be a teacher. My mom, both grandmothers, and three aunts were all teachers, and I grew up knowing it was the best job in the world. One of the greatest joys I know is reconnecting with former students years later and finding that they are now my friends.
I am originally from a small town outside Birmingham, Alabama, but since I have lived in Florida for 35 years, I consider myself a semi-native. This is my eighteenth year teaching in Manatee County and my second year teaching 4th grade math at Daughtrey. My husband, Dan, teaches social studies at King Middle School; my sons, Matthew and Nathan, attend Manatee High School; and my daughter, Clare, attends Rowlett Academy. Everyone at our house goes to school every day, except for our dog, Daisy - and I think she would probably like to give it a try!
When I am not at school, I am reading good books, watching movies, baking treats, having coffee with my pals, or looking for treasure at thrift shops. When I am at school, I am teaching the very best 4th graders in Manatee County. #daughtreypride
